MoneyGram® Money Order Frequently Asked Questions

New MoneyGram Money Order Design Features

What is different on the new MoneyGram Money Orders?

All previous Travelers Express Money Orders are now MoneyGram Money Orders, but they are the same safe, convenient alternative to a bank check.

As an added value, pertinent money order payment information is provided in both English and Spanish.

There is no longer a need to tear or cut off any part of the money order. The new money order design is slightly larger and meets all banking standards. Please be sure to tear off only the receipt portion of the money order to ensure proper processing.

Instructions for downloading a Claim Card are now included on the Proof of Purchase statement on the back of the receipt.

For more information, the SERVICE CHARGE AGREEMENT is printed on the back of the MoneyGram Money Order.

Should I keep my money order receipt?

Yes. All records are kept by the money order number found on your purchaser's receipt (stub). MoneyGram does not keep any records by name or date of purchase. If you do not retain your money order number, research or investigation can be done for a nominal fee.

If you do not retain your money order receipt with the money order number, MoneyGram offers an investigative service for a fee of $30 per money order.
